Bahalaruain, Viqueque — Floods can occur at any time. Through Anticipatory Action, communities are strengthening preparedness to reduce flood impacts.
Through the Anticipatory Action (AA) initiative in Suco Bahalaruain, Viqueque, ADRA Timor-Leste is working closely with communities and local authorities to strengthen early warning systems and promote timely action before floods occur.
In collaboration with the SMPC, SDMC, local leaders, and community members, the initiative focuses on:
- Identifying flood risks and vulnerabilities;
- Strengthening coordination among local stakeholders; and
- Establishing a community-owned and community-managed Early Warning System (EWS) to help protect lives, livelihoods, and essential assets.
By investing in preparedness today, communities are better equipped to anticipate, respond to, and recover from future flood events.
